Changing lanes means:

• Moving from one lane to another.
• Entering the freeway from an on-ramp.
• Entering the road from a curb or the shoulder.

Use your turn signal lights once you decide to change lanes and:

• Look in all rearview mirrors to monitor traffic behind you.
• Turn your head in the direction you want to go to make sure the lane is free.
• Check for vehicles, motorcyclists, and bicycle traffic in the areas outside your field of vision (blind spot).
