It is allowed to turn left across a single set of double yellow lines to:
- enter or exit driveway
- make a U-turn
- drive into or out of a private road
Two sets of solid double yellow lines spaced 2 feet or more apart are considered a barrier. Never drive on or over this barrier, except at designated openings (see diagram).
Two solid white lines indicate a lane barrier between a regular use and a preferential use lane, such as HOV. You should not change lanes until a single broken white line appears.
